As some of you may know, admission offers just went out today. A HUGE CONGRATS to those who've made it! For those who are less fortunate - never give up. Many people gained admission to medical school after many tries, so the dream ends only when you stop trying. I've just started two threads in the forum - one for people who've received admission offers to share their achievement and to discuss what had made them successful. Another thread was created for those who've either gotten wait-listed or was declined of admission to discuss areas that may have went wrong as well as how they can improve.

Great idea for starting the threads ... I myself haven't applied this year, but it would be interesting to hear about other applicants' strong/weak areas.

Lol, I wouldn't be on MedChatter if I've just gotten into medicine either. Probably out celebrating smilies/kiss.gif Although I did get a couple of msgs from members of the site regarding their acceptance.

hmm, I have a question...I'm planning on applying to med school during third year. The problem is that you have to apply to graduate by the end of april. If offers go out this late, and you don't get into med school (and apply again in fourth year), then what happens...? can you go back into your program? smilies/shocked.gif

Hey Sam, your med application will have no impact on your current undergrad degree. If you are applying out of third year, it doesn't mean you are forfeiting your degree. If you do make it, obviously you won't get your degree. If you don't make it, you just continue on with year 4 to finish your degree. Does that make sense, or did I misinterpret your question?

Hey Kevin,

Thanks for your reply. Actually I go to queens, where you can get a degree after 3 years (like york I think). Like say I applied to graduate (the deadline to apply to graduate is april 30), and I say I get waitlisted (or no reply whatsoever yet), then what happens? that's what I meant, sorry if it came out wrong.

Hey Sam, they should still be separate processes that don't really influence each other. You will simply graduate with your degree. If you don't gain acceptance, you apply again the next year. You'll just have to wait for an extra year. When you asked "can you go back into your program", what do you exactly mean? Considering your program is 3 years long, are you asking whether you can delay graduation and take more courses?

Hey Kevin, my program is one where you CAN graduate after 3 years (and get a general BSc) or stay for the fourth year, and get the honors degree. My question is just that the deadline to apply to graduate from queens is april 30, and offers go out in may (right?), and you don't get accepted, how can you "undo" your application to graduate (because you're right, you simply apply again in fourth yr). Hopefully that made sense haha smilies/tongue.gif
